How does the website design process work?

The design process is actually very easy and simplistic. Many clients often get into a bit of a panic at the start wondering how the whole thing is going to come together, but we have plenty of experience in the website design business. All we need from you is a rough idea as to how you want your website to look and what purpose you want it to serve. Then just email us the text which is to appear on the website along with any pictures or perhaps a company logo and leave the rest to us. Typically we will design the first page of your site which you will then be able to view immediatley on your PC screen. You then provide us with comments about the page and we will make the necessary changes to it until you are happy with the result. Once you have approved the first page, the process is then repeated with page 2 and so on. Please note it is essential that all text which is to appear on your wesbite be emailed to us. If it is provided as a hard copy via fax or post, then we will need to type it out at our end and their is a charge for this.

How long does it take to design a website?

In many respects this depends on you. Yes, we have a lot of work to do, but so do you. We will require various bits of information from you during the design process, for example the text which will appear on each page. The longer you take to provide us with what we need, the longer you will have to wait for your website to be completed. If you can provide us with everything we need, then typically a small business website consisting of 7 or 8 pages can be designed and ready for use within a week. Of course, there are other factors to consider which can effect the development time scale. For example, you may not like our initial design for the first page of your website and so we would have to go back to the drawing board and start again, but in most cases, if you need your website up and running we will work round the clock to make sure the job is done on time.

Where is your website design company located?

Just for the record we are located in London but our location is actually unimportant with regards to the type of service we provide. It is perfectly sufficient for all communications between us and our clients to be by phone and email. Infact, it is a requirement that all the information we need from you be emailed. All text should be sent as a word document, and any images or company logos must be sent in either jpeg or gif format. Seeing as emails can be sent and received from anywhere in the world it really does not matter where we are located or where you are located. We have designed websites for people all over the United Kingdom without actually ever coming face to face. This is one of the reasons why we do not ask for a deposit or any money up front, as you don't really know who we are so that way you have peace of mind that you can't lose anything.

What is web hosting?

Web hosting is simply the term used to refer to how your website is kept alive on the internet or "hosted" on the internet. Once we have designed your website, we need a bit of space on the internet in which to put it. We do not actually own any space on the internet ourselves, but lots of companies do. These are known as web hosts or web hosting companies. For a small monthly charge, these web hosting companies will host your website in their space on the internet. Choosing the right web hosting company is extremely important for 2 reasons. Firstly, not all web hosting companies are reliable; you need a host that can guarantee your website will be online at least 95% of the year. Second, your website may have some kind of dynamic or interactive content features; depending on who hosts your website these features may or may not work.
